Jan. 7, 2011: Koichi Tanaka appointed Acting Director of the Office of Promotion for Medical Innovation.

 Koichi Tanaka, the core researcher on this project, has been appointed Acting Director of the Office of Promotion for Medical Innovation.

 The Office of Promotion for Medical Innovation was established within the Cabinet Secretariat on January 7, 2011 as an organization to provide planning and overall coordination related to the promotion of medical innovation. Collaboration with Japanese domestic industry, research organizations, and three ministries (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) yields the early realization of the results of Life Innovation (one of the pillars of the growth strategy) and establishes a continuous growth cycle.
